1. How much does a hair transplant in Turkey cost?
At Global Health Hair, FUE Sapphire hair transplants start from €1,990 and DHI starts from €2,390 — both fully all-inclusive. The package covers your surgical procedure, three nights’ hotel accommodation, airport transfers, all medications, aftercare kit, and a 12-month follow-up with Dr. Çelik. There are no hidden charges. The only thing not included is your flight to Turkey. The final cost depends on the number of grafts required, which Dr. Çelik determines during your free consultation.
2. Is a hair transplant in Turkey safe?
Yes — provided you choose a medically qualified surgeon with a verifiable track record. At Global Health Hair, all procedures are performed personally by Dr. Merdan Çelik MD, who qualified from Trakya University School of Medicine in 1997 and has over 22 years of dedicated hair restoration experience. He is a member of the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery), the leading global professional body in this field. The clinic operates under full Turkish Ministry of Health registration. We strongly advise patients to avoid any clinic where a non-medical technician performs the procedure.
3. How long do I need to stay in Turkey?
Most patients stay three to four nights. Day one is typically a rest day after arriving; day two is the procedure day; days three and four allow time for your first post-op wash and initial recovery checks before you fly home. Dr. Çelik’s team will provide a full day-by-day itinerary once your procedure is booked. Three nights’ hotel accommodation is included in your package. Some patients with larger sessions or who prefer extra peace of mind choose to stay a fifth night, which can be arranged at a small additional cost.
4. What is included in the all-inclusive package?
Your Global Health Hair package includes: the surgical procedure itself (performed by Dr. Çelik), three nights’ hotel accommodation (typically 4-star), airport transfers in both directions, all medications (anaesthetic, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory), an aftercare kit to take home, a post-op nurse consultation, and a full 12-month follow-up programme with Dr. Çelik via video call and WhatsApp. The only exclusion is your flight to Turkey. There are no surprise extras on the day of surgery.
5. What is the difference between FUE and DHI?
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) involves extracting individual hair follicles from the donor area and implanting them into small incisions made in the recipient area. It’s the gold standard for most patients and allows large sessions in a single day. Our FUE uses Sapphire-tipped blades for finer incisions and faster healing. DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) uses a specialised Choi implanter pen to extract and implant in one step, without pre-made incisions. DHI offers more precise angle control and is often preferred for hairline work or when existing hair must be preserved. Dr. Çelik will recommend the most suitable technique for your individual hair loss pattern during your free consultation.
6. Am I a good candidate for a hair transplant?
Good candidates are generally adults with stable hair loss (not rapidly progressing), a sufficient donor area at the back and sides of the scalp, and realistic expectations about results. Younger patients (under 25) are sometimes advised to wait until their hair loss pattern is more established. Certain medical conditions and medications may also affect suitability. The only way to know for certain is a personal assessment — Dr. Çelik reviews every enquiry and will give you an honest, professional opinion. If you’re not ready yet, he’ll tell you.
7. How many grafts will I need?
This depends entirely on your hair loss pattern, desired coverage, and donor density. As a rough guide: a hairline restoration typically requires 1,500–2,500 grafts; a Norwood III–IV pattern may need 2,500–3,500 grafts; more advanced cases (Norwood V–VI) can require 4,000–5,000+ grafts, sometimes across two sessions. Dr. Çelik uses a precise digital assessment method to count donor grafts and plan the optimal distribution. He’ll give you a specific graft estimate as part of your free consultation — no guesswork, no upselling.
8. When will I see results?
Hair transplant results develop gradually over 12 months. Most patients notice the first new growth appearing around months 3–4. By month 6, roughly 60% of the final density is visible, and most patients are already very happy with progress. The final result is assessed at month 12, when transplanted hair has fully matured in thickness and texture. Dr. Çelik conducts a formal 12-month follow-up with every patient — included in your package — to review the outcome and address any questions.
9. Does a hair transplant hurt?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so you will not feel pain during the operation itself. The only discomfort most patients describe is the initial injection of the local anaesthetic — a brief stinging sensation that passes within seconds. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, patients typically watch films or listen to music throughout the session. After the procedure, mild tenderness and tightness are normal for the first few days, managed comfortably with the pain relief medication provided in your kit. The vast majority of patients describe the experience as far easier than they anticipated.
10. What is the recovery time?
Most patients return to desk-based work within 3–5 days. Visible scabbing settles within 10–14 days. Strenuous physical exercise and swimming should be avoided for four weeks. You can wash your hair gently from day three using the specialist shampoo in your aftercare kit, following Dr. Çelik’s post-op instructions carefully. By the end of the second week, most people are socially comfortable — the donor and recipient areas are no longer visibly red. Sun protection on the scalp is recommended for the first three months.
11. Can I fly after a hair transplant?
Yes — most patients fly home 48–72 hours after their procedure, which is perfectly safe. The main considerations are avoiding direct sun on the scalp at the airport, wearing a loose-fitting hat if needed (Dr. Çelik’s team will advise on the right type), and staying well hydrated on the flight. Some patients prefer to wear a cap during the journey for privacy. We will give you a printed post-op care card in English to carry with you, and Dr. Çelik’s team is reachable via WhatsApp throughout your journey home.
12. What is the difference between a surgeon and a technician performing hair transplants?
This is one of the most important questions you can ask any clinic. In some clinics — particularly in Turkey — the surgeon is present only for the initial incision planning, and unqualified or minimally trained technicians perform the actual graft extraction and implantation. At Global Health Hair, Dr. Merdan Çelik MD personally performs every stage of your procedure — he does not delegate the transplant to technicians. As a fully qualified medical doctor and ISHRS member, Dr. Çelik brings 22+ years of surgical expertise to every session. Always verify who will actually be holding the instruments on the day.
13. Does Global Health Hair offer financing or payment plans?
We do not currently offer in-house financing. However, many of our UK patients use third-party healthcare finance providers — such as Payl8r or similar — to spread the cost before travelling. We recommend speaking with your bank or a reputable health finance provider directly. Our patient coordinators are happy to advise on options that other patients have used successfully. Please contact us for an up-to-date recommendation for UK patients.
14. What happens if I’m not happy with the results?
Dr. Çelik is committed to achieving the best possible outcome for every patient, and the 12-month follow-up is in place precisely to monitor results and address any concerns. In the rare event that density falls below expectations — and causes are confirmed to be unrelated to the patient’s post-op care or medical factors — Dr. Çelik will discuss the options available, which may include additional grafting at a significantly reduced cost. Every case is assessed individually and fairly. We encourage patients to maintain regular contact through our WhatsApp channel throughout the recovery year so any concerns are caught early.
