Hair Transplant Turkey vs Poland and Hungary: Price and Who Operates

If you are a European patient shopping for a hair transplant abroad, Poland and Hungary are on the shortlist next to Turkey. All three are a short flight from most of Europe, and all three advertise low prices. This page compares them on facts you can check, including the points where Poland or Hungary comes out ahead, because a comparison that only flatters one side is not worth reading.

Quick summary: One medical-travel marketplace lists FUE in Poland as starting at €1,450 and in Hungary as starting at €2,900, with the inclusions not stated. Poland’s headline price is lower than ours. At Global Health Hair in Istanbul, the all-inclusive Premium package is €1,990 without flights (FUE Sapphire; DHI €2,175), fixed regardless of graft count, and Dr. Merdan Çelik, MD personally performs the incisions, the extraction and the implantation. The useful comparison is the total price for your case and who performs each surgical step, not the headline number.

How Do Prices Compare in Turkey, Poland and Hungary?

A medical-travel marketplace lists FUE hair transplants as starting at €1,450 in Poland and starting at €2,900 in Hungary (checked in early October). Both are “starting at” figures and neither page states what the price includes, so they are a lower bound for a small case, not a quote. Our own figure is €1,990 for the Premium package without flights with FUE Sapphire, or €2,175 with DHI, fixed regardless of the number of grafts and covering the procedure, the stay and transfers. See the cost breakdown.

We will not tell you Turkey is cheaper than Poland, because the Polish headline price is lower. What can differ is how the final price behaves: whether it rises with the number of grafts, and whether hotel, transfers, medication and follow-up are in it. Ask each clinic for the total for your case in writing. For a comparison against clinics in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Scandinavia, see the Europe vs Turkey price study.

What Is the Healthcare Card Difference?

This point favours Poland and Hungary. The UK government’s travel advice says that in Poland and in Hungary you need a GHIC or EHIC to get medically necessary state healthcare, whereas the Turkey page says the EHIC and GHIC are not valid in Turkey. So if you needed emergency treatment for something unrelated to your procedure, a card would help you in Poland or Hungary and not in Turkey.

It is worth being precise about what that does not change. The cards cover medically necessary care, not an elective cosmetic procedure, so they would not cover a complication of a hair transplant in any of the three countries. For that you need the right insurance and a clinic with proper follow-up. We explain this in what travel insurance does and does not cover.

Who Performs the Surgery?

This matters more than the country. In all three, some clinics give extraction and implantation to technicians. Ask who makes the incisions, who extracts the grafts and who implants them, and get it in writing. At Global Health Hair, Dr. Merdan Çelik, MD personally performs the incisions, the extraction and the implantation, working with a team of four specialists, and treats a maximum of three patients a day. He graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and has treated over 20,000 patients. Our doctor vs technician page explains why the question matters.

How Can You Check a Surgeon’s Registration?

Poland publishes a public doctor register run by the Polish Chamber of Physicians, at nil.org.pl. That is a real advantage for a patient who wants to confirm that a named surgeon is a registered physician. Turkey’s register is consulted through a state portal that requires a Turkish national identity number, so a foreign patient cannot search it directly; we explain what remains possible in how to verify a Turkish surgeon, and our team will help you check the doctor’s certification before you decide.

What Happens After You Fly Home?

In every case, your hair grows in at home, so follow-up is a question of distance. Ask what happens if you have a question in month three and who answers. We provide follow-up for 12 months by WhatsApp and email, with progress photographs as the hair grows in, and the result is judged at 10 to 12 months.

Turkey, Poland or Hungary: Which Should You Choose?

  • Poland or Hungary may suit you if you want the shortest trip, value a register you can search yourself, and have verified the surgeon and what the price includes.
  • Turkey may suit you if you want one fixed price that does not change with graft count, an all-inclusive stay, and the doctor personally performing all three surgical steps.
  • In every case, compare the total including flights, hotel and extras, not the headline number.
